A soil monitor that actually knows your soil.
It arrives calibrated, tells you in plain words when a plant needs water, and does it all on your home network. No app. No account. No nonsense.
Why you want one
Watering on a schedule overwaters some plants and parches others. A finger in the soil tells you about the top inch and nothing about the roots. And cheap moisture meters print a number on a scale that has nothing to do with your soil, so the number cannot be trusted.
PlantSense fixes the one thing all of those get wrong: it measures the soil your plant is actually rooted in, on a scale we calibrate on every single unit before it leaves us, and tells you what it means.
How it works
Two things to do, about five minutes, then it just gets on with it.
Get it on your wifi
On first power up the monitor makes its own setup network. Join it from your phone, hand over your home wifi, and it hops onto your network.
Tell it what is growing
Pick the plant and the watering threshold sets itself. A blueberry and a rosemary bush want completely different treatment, and the database carries a tested figure for each.
Nothing, we did it already
The step cheap meters skip is calibration, and we do it for you. Every probe is set against dry and fully wetted soil on our bench before it is packed, so the percentage means something real the moment you plug it in.
Then it just watches
The monitor takes a reading, smooths out the jitter, and reports one of three plain states: OK, getting dry, or needs watering. It works that out on its own, on the device.
Nothing is calculated on a server somewhere, which is why it carries on doing its job when your phone is flat, your broadband is down, or we are having a bad day.
