Check your plants from anywhere. PlantSense Cloud lets you see your readings when you are away from home, keeps your history, and tells you the moment something needs water. It is optional, and monitoring at home stays free forever.
New accounts get the first 7 days free, no card needed. After that, one payment, no recurring subscription. Time you buy stacks on top of any you already have, and all your monitors are covered.
What it adds
Every PlantSense monitor works fully on your own home network, free, with no account. The cloud service adds the things you can only do when you are not standing in front of the monitor:
- See your plants from anywhere. Open your account on your phone from work, on holiday, wherever, and see every monitor live.
- Get told when something needs water. An alert reaches you rather than waiting for you to check.
- Keep your history. Watch how a plant dries through the week, compare seasons, and learn what your garden actually wants.
- Pick a plant, once. Choose what each monitor is watching from our plant database, and the right watering level is set for you and sent to the monitor automatically.
Monitoring on your own home network is free, and always will be. You never need the cloud service to use a PlantSense monitor.
The promise we are keeping
When we first wrote about the cloud, we made some promises about how it would work. Now that it is live, here is us keeping them.
- Your monitors do not depend on us. If your broadband drops, or our servers have a bad day, or we vanish entirely, every monitor keeps reading soil, keeps showing on your home network, and keeps working with Home Assistant. The cloud is a window onto your monitors, not the thing that runs them.
- We do not sell your data. Your readings are yours. We use them to show you your plants and nothing else.
- You can leave cleanly. Your monitors lose nothing when your cloud time ends, they simply carry on at home. Delete a monitor and its history goes with it.
How to switch it on
- Create a PlantSense account, or sign in.
- Buy cloud access above, or from your account area.
- Link your monitor to your account, then switch on Send readings to my account on the monitor itself.
- Within a few minutes your monitor appears in your account, live, wherever you are.
Full steps are in the setup guide. If you would rather run everything yourself with no cloud at all, Home Assistant gives you readings, history and alerts on your own hardware, and we support that fully.
Cloud, or Home Assistant, or neither
Three ways to use a PlantSense monitor, all valid:
- Neither. Open the monitor page on your home wifi. Free, private, nothing to set up.
- Home Assistant. If you already run it, your monitors appear automatically with full history and alerts, on your own hardware. Free.
- PlantSense Cloud. The simplest way to watch your plants from anywhere, with no hardware to run.
Most people pick whichever suits how they already live. There is no wrong answer, and you can change your mind whenever you like.
