Why wait an hour before setting the wet point

Asked by plantsense on 26 July 2026 Answered

Straight after watering, the soil right by the probe can be waterlogged while the rest of the bed is still catching up. Waiting about an hour lets the water spread and drain to what the soil actually holds, which is the true wet reading. Set it too soon and your wet point is unrealistically high.
